I had zero problems with it, recording SD and HD material. I spent most of last night playing with it and it's nice. Timely discussion for me as I bought an EyeTV 500 yesterday.
EYETV HOMEPAGE SOFTWARE
I'm going to screw with the software more I guess, but using their most "up to date" software so far has been a bust. and then even better the next time I scheduled something and left the program running to record something from 11-11:30 it didn't start recording until 11:30 and then when the next show came on to record it totally choked as if realizing it screwed up and then skipped the next five shows I had scheduled to record that night. One, if you've got your desktop idling there with their software not running it won't record your scheduled program. Other annoyances include the fact that this device is supposed to be able to wake from sleep or even startup the computer to record a show - neither of which I've tried because of two experiences so far. This includes their FAQ that says, "If TitanTV doesn't show up then keep redoing the setup routine with your region as USA until it takes." Mmm okay, but I can't get it to work. I can't get it to show up in the Menu Bar even though I've followed their instructions. I love mine! Be sure to use the latest EyeTV software (version 1.8.1 as of right now) as I read that older versions were troublesome.Īfter one week of "average" use I can say that this is indeed a cool product - WHEN THE SOFTWARE DOESN'T BITE ASS.įirst off, getting TitanTV to integrate with their software really doesn't work. In short, I can really recommend the EyeTV 200 with no reservations. I think its more a problems with my standalone Toshiba DVR than with the EyeTV. The DVDs are dark and silent when played on the Toshiba DVR, but work perfectly on the Pioneer DVD player (and also on several Macs and PCs I've tried). The recorded shows and recorded DVDs are of good quality (equal to that of my standalone Toshiba RD-XS32 DVR), but play better on my standalone DVD player (Pioneer DVL-909 DVD/LD Player) than on the Toshiba DVR. Its extremely easy and the quality is very good (I use the default MPEG2 "Standard (DVD 120 min)" encloding). I've recorded a few old home videos via composite video (from my VCR) and a number of shows via the EyeTV's built-in tuner, and recorded them to DVD (using Toast) with no problems.

It makes recording shows extremely easy and foolproof.

I really like the TitanTV TV guide and how its so well-integrated with the EyeTV device. The software is simple to use, stable, and works well.
EYETV HOMEPAGE INSTALL
It doesn't install any drivers (kexts) it appears to work entirely via the built-in Mac Firewire driver. I just recently bought an Elgato EyeTV 200.
